This is the first text to present in detail clinical observations, data, and specific system description, as well as patient use of functional electrical stimulation (FES). FES is employed to enable spinal cord injury patients who are complete paraplegics to stand and ambulate without bracing. The FES system described is the first to receive FDA approval.
