The book addresses a variety of issues related to the production and promotion of research in adult education. The primary goal is to explain the canons of
research practice and explicate publishing standards in adult education in order to remove some of the mystique surrounding research. Next, through the provision of specific descriptions of research publishing practices, a framework for conducting and publishing research is presented. In addition to research processes, both the current status and future status of adult education research are discussed. (**Target audience: Scholars and graduate students in the field of adult education, adult
education practitioners who may have an interest in research and publishing. Graduate students and professors in the social sciences in the social sciences may be interested, especially those in distance education, human resources development, continuing professional education, and those in service professions, such as nursing.) |
| | "The pursuit of a knowledge base by which to define their field has engaged the efforts of adult educators for a very long time. Garrison and the other authors of this volume have made a particularly useful attempt in this direction...well-organized and thoughtful reference." -- Robert Sweet, Canadian Journal of University Continuing Education, Vol. 21, No.2 Fall 1996 |
