The purpose of this book is to provide an introduction to probability theory and its applications. It is intended primarily for students of engineering,
science, and management. The only prerequisite is a one-year course in calculus. Although some aspects of statistics are covered, such as hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and regression analysis, they are included more as applications of probability likely to be of use to the intended audience rather than as an attempt to introduce the reader to statistical methods. |
