This book tells the story of Churchill's long and colorful career, with emphasis on his role in the liberal and coalition governments of
1906-1922, and on his World War II premiership. His role in social reform and Anglo-Irish relations is addressed as well as his better known role in two world wars. A special effort has been made to set Churchill's career in the context of his times to help make intelligible his policies and actions. The book concludes with an assessment of Churchill's character and his place in history. The second edition is extensively revised to take account of the large body of new material on Churchill
and his era that has become available in the last decade. |
