The Orient has for many years been greatly neglected by herpetologists, compared to the rest of the world. Presented in this book, to be used as encouragement for further study, is a list of the snakes of the area. In this work an attempt is made to list the snake fauna of the Orient as a whole (Pakistan, east to China, and south through Asia, to include Japan, the Philippine Islands, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea). The list includes present-day
names, original names and references, type locality, distribution, and any recent taxonomic references. | |
